Professional titles/professional rules for lawyers

The professional title “Rechtsanwalt” or “Rechtsanwältin” was awarded to the lawyers working in the German offices by the President of the Higher Regional Court responsible for their respective seat or by the respective local bar association on the basis of German legal standards after passing the second state examination and a special admission procedure, respectively, by the respective Ministry of Justice or on the basis of the changed legal situation as of September 8, 1998.

They are subject to the following professional regulations in the respectively applicable versions:

Professional indemnity insurance

The territorial scope of insurance cover includes services at least in the Member States of the European Union. It meets at least the requirements of the professional regulations for lawyers (§ 51 Federal lawyer order (Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung, BRAO) and the professional regulations for tax consultants (§ 67 Tax advisory law (Steuerberatergesetz, StBerG), §§ 51 ff. Ordinance for the implementation of the regulations on tax consultants, tax agents and tax consulting companies (Verordnung zur Durchführung der Vorschriften über Steuerberater, Steuerbevollmächtigte und Steuerberatungsgesellschaften, DVStB).
